Pomegranate extract inhibits the formation of melanin pigments that cause dark skin. There was an experiment to give ellagic acid, important substance obtained from pomegranate, in brown guinea species mice exposed to ultraviolet light was found to inhibit skin melanin formation. Oil from the seed and pomegranate extract also stimulate the formation of collagen and inhibit the destruction of collagen. And also found that pomegranate extract can inhibit the formation of free radicals from ultraviolet type A and B.

Moreover, pomegranate extract with ellagic acid inhibits skin pigmentation from ultraviolet in mice and also prevents skin damage from type A1 ultraviolet rays. Pomegranate extract can nourish the skin as well, delays the occurrence of wrinkles before aging, and it is able to protect against ultraviolet A and B which can lead to skin cancer.

2. Activity against free radicals

Pomegranate extract has rich in antioxidants such as ellagitannin, flavonoids, and polyphenols, etc. These antioxidants can prevent the danger of pollution from the environment.

A study examining the antioxidant activity of pomegranate extract found that pomegranate peel was the most important source of antioxidants and was found to have a higher antioxidant activity than leaf and seed extracts.

In addition, the study comparing the antioxidant activity of many fruit juices in the United States found that pomegranate juice had the highest antioxidant activity. This activity can help to keep your liver healthy. In this study, pomegranate extract was given in rats before giving the toxin carbonate chloride (CCl4), which is toxic to the liver, and was also found that rats given pomegranate extract were able to prevent liver toxicity significantly.

In conclusion, pomegranate extract has particular benefit to be used to slow down the body’s aging process.
